The Mariposa Club by Rigoberto Gonzalez

Title: The Mariposa Club
Author: Rigoberto Gonzalez
Publisher: Lethe Press
Length: Novel /250 pages
Buy the book: Paperback, Ebook
Rating: 3.5 stars

Review:
Mariposa Club is a decent coming of age story that has engaging characters and a youthful appeal. The situations and especially the cast are all exaggerations. They’re extreme depictions of tropes and themes surrounding gay teens. There is the flaming overweight queen, the fierce cross dresser, token white boy with a big dick, and the very sensitive, thoughtful Mexican narrator. None of the characters particularly grow or mature over the course of the story even though the plot is heavily character driven. Instead the story is more an anthem for young gay teens of any type, involving characters and situations that they can emphasize and sympathize with.

Review:

After finishing A Dangerous Man I’m incredibly impressed with Brooke’s ability to evoke emotion, tension, angst, and mystery. This novel is a compelling story that left me breathless, heart broken, and depressed. I’m glad I could experience the author’s incredible talent yet I wish I’d never read this either. I can easily recommend the story but with the caveat that it’s not easy and definitely no happy ending, yet the brilliance of the writing is something to experience.[...]

Finding Sanctuary by DC Juris

Title: Finding Sanctuary
Author: DC Juris
Publisher: Fanny Press
Length: 150 pages
Buy the book: Amazon
Rating: 3.5 stars

Blurb:
Finding Sanctuary is the story of Vincent, a typical, average guy who has begun to unravel. He has a respectable, mainstream life, with a solid job, nice girlfriend, comfortable house—all the material trappings. What, then, is causing this restlessness, these blackouts? The first revelation is that his best friend Eric is also his heart’s desire. But then Eric invites him to a weekend at a BDSM playhouse … There Vincent will confront his fears and test the limits of his sexual boundaries. Eric has his needs, too—needs that conflict with Vincent’s. Will their fragile new bond survive the weekend? Will Vincent find the sanctuary he so fervently desires?

Review:
Finding Sanctuary is pretty hot fantasy fiction. I finished the book in one sitting and when I put it down, reluctantly, I realized this is perfect stroke fiction for women. The sex is incredibly steamy while maintaining a sensuality that will appeal to romance fans. The story is actually somewhat ridiculous with many elements simply existing for the ease of fantasy. [Contd]
