Now I know we’re supposed to do one letter but since this is an m/m blog I wanted to write a letter to an m/m author as well. (I know I know, I changed the rules … sorry! or not .. )
Dear Jordan Castillo Price,
I recently wrote a fan letter to the author of one of my all time favorite series, JD Robb. But I wanted to write a letter to an m/m genre author as well and immediately it popped into my head “JCP is the JD Robb of m/m.” Now, there’s no need to make such a comparison since you stand on your own just fine but it made me laugh some so hopefully you will too.
Your urban fantasy books and series remain some of my beloved favorites. There is an edgy quality to the stories that keep me wondering, always curious what will happen. I like that there is very little safety net and the characters are not always safe by themselves. I may have favorites among stories or characters but they are universally gritty, interesting, and unforgettable. One of the best things is I can pick a book at random and instantly know it’s yours. Your writing is very distinctive and I always know when I’m reading one of your books.
As an urban fantasy buff, I’ve read a lot in the genre. Please know that in a genre defined by standards that exist from one book to the next, your contributions still stand out as unique and different. I adore your way of crafting vivid, eye catching settings without long descriptions. You convey the meaning, texture, taste, and feel of a place with few words and yet it comes across so clear. I pick up your books confident I’ll love what you offer. Your series have unforgettable characters that still nag at me to re-read them.
Like many fans, I am quietly heartbroken when your series ends but respect that nothing lasts forever. It will however exist in an honored place on my shelves to be reached for again and again. There are favorite comfort reads, great re-reads, and then the lauded “keeper” shelf. Your books are on my keeper shelf.
Thank you,
A fan
Please head over to Tam @ Tam Reads for the next letter tomorrow!

Great letter Kassa and may I just say … ditto. ๐ I love Jordan’s work as well, she’s an amazing writer.
Thanks! It’s a hard choice among authors so I hope this is ok ๐
I hope you let her know to come by and check it out. I’m sure she’ll be tickled to read it.
I adore your way of crafting vivid, eye catching settings without long descriptions. You convey the meaning, texture, taste, and feel of a place with few words and yet it comes across so clear.
Yes, absolutely! A great choice, Kassa.
Thanks! It’s a tough choice but a good one.
Yes, great choice, Kassa. Jordan is one of my very few auto-buy authors, and her books are on my “keeper” shelf as well.
I knew I couldn’t be the only fan who is “keeping” the lovely JCP’s books but it’s nice to get such a positive response and similar taste!
JCP is an auto-buy for me. So glad you wrote to her!
Thanks ! It’s a daunting choice among great authors.
Great choice for your M/M letter. JCP is an awesome author!
Thanks! I knew I had to do an m/m author for this blog too and she just came first to mind. Kismet!
Thank you!
What an honor to be in the spotlight on day one! Thank you so much. I’m happy my prose seems distinctive. I pick at it extensively, so it’s heartening to know the attention to detail shows ๐
Re: Thank you!
Thank you for stopping by! It’s very scary writing a fan letter to an author so thank you for being very gracious. All your hard work shows and is very appreciated.
Not sure why I have always jumped over her work – Not a big UF fan unfortunately….
Seem as if I need to take on a new challenge..
Love the letter – well said..

She’s not heavy urban fantasy (more vampires, magic, “extra” abilities, and that sort). I’d suggest Among the Living or Payback. Both are quick, addictive starts to her series and give you a real feel for her writing.
Thank you for the compliment and again for the button!
Ditto. ๐
gonna say that on your letter!
Great letter Kassa. I have yet to read any of JCP’s books, but I have the PsyCop series on my radar as I’ve heard so many good things about them!
