Blurb:
Dominic Taylor and Matt Harris have been friendly rivals – with occasional benefits – for a few years. With the downturn in the economy, though, Matt’s business is struggling. Dom, whose company is doing well, offers Matt a bet that could help save Matt’s company. But the terms of the bet would literally put Matt’s ass on the line and change the dynamic of their friendship.

As the deadline approaches, they graduate from making out to making love, raising the stakes as they each come to terms with what they really want, and what really matters.

No matter who wins, there will be no going back for either one of them. Because the winner takes all.

Review:

Winner Takes All is a sexy, fun, and unabashed great time. The main characters have a bit of a gay for you but only slightly wrapped up in some business dealings. The story is highly erotic in the best ways with a lot of great sex scenes and non-stop banter. Although normally so much sex in a story tends to get repetitive and boring, somehow the writing and characters kept the each scene fresh, interesting, and incredibly hot. There is no question a lot of sex in the story so go into this looking for a light, highly charged time, but if that’s what you’re looking for, Winner Takes All completely delivers.

The story looses works around a business deal between best friends Matt and Dom. The two friends usually spend their Friday nights watching sports and drinking beer until they get drunk enough that supposedly straight Matt is willing, able, and eager to get horny with Dom. Both men work in the construction business and where Matt’s been hurt by the economy, Dom has been lucky enough to do really well. When Matt’s company looks like it’s going under, Dom motivates his best friend with a side bet – get his company in good shape or he lets Dom have his ass for a week. The sexy bet sets up a lot of sex and banter between the two as they work out exactly what they want.

The plot is really just a platform for a lot of sex between the curious Matt and openly gay Dom. The business talk and non-stop banter is a good outlet to keep the action going and give a nice break to the men. The actual bets and work proposition are secondary and actually not that important, but they do keep things interesting in between sex, sex, and more sex. The non-stop banter between the characters sets up some great exchanges. The two men just can’t stop trading quips no matter what they’re doing. Some of this banter runs a little long and the length cuts this off perfectly before it starts to get annoying. Even so the repetitive nature of some of the commentary is already evident and I think Matt said “your cock in my ass” a few too many times. For the most part though, the quick back and forth between Matt and Dom sets up a nice, alpha male friendship that will entice readers.

The characters are also pretty decent. There is the openly gay Dom who slowly realizes that he pushes his supposedly straight friend for more sexually because he’s coming to really care for the man. Their friendship is fun to watch as they argue, question, and bait each other over anything and everything but always with a friendly, flirty edge that works. Contrasting Dom is Matt’s slow realization that he’s not straight, but bisexual. He loves women and is very attracted to them but he’s always repressed his feelings towards men. He has a few back and forth moments of not wanting to be gay but there is very little angst. For all this, these two men are thoroughly enjoyable and engaging to watch as they find their way from best friends to close lovers.

This is a story that is a lot of fun to read. There is a ton of sex, but it keeps fresh and different never getting too stale. The novella length is the right touch as any longer there are some quirks that could slide into annoying. Some of this is the never ending quips back and forth, some repetitive dialogue, and the refusal to dare talk about their feelings. But overall the shorter length keeps these in check and lets the story be fun, hot, and thoroughly entertaining. It’s not quite a gay for you but more so exploring his feelings so if you’re looking for a very sexy story sure to raise the temperature with some great men, check this out.

    • Thanks! If you’re looking for something light and easy with hot sex, this works. I’m not always a fan of that so it’s nice to come across a novella that does it right. Hope you like it 🙂
