Review: Entertaining The Delaneys

Entertaining The Delaneys (The Delaneys #2)Entertaining The Delaneys by Anne Brooke
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Entertaining the Delaneys is the sequel to The Delaney’s and Me. Like the first short story, this one is a sex scene that seeks to delve slightly deeper into the characters and their complicated relationship. More kinks come to the surface and more depth to the various men in what promises to be a series of short stories. I’m not sure I like or even appreciate the characters in such short, stunted vinaigrettes versus a longer, more fleshed out story but the individual scenes are smoking hot and easy to read so fans won’t be disappointed.

Review: He Completes Me

He Completes MeHe Completes Me by Cardeno C.
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

He Completes Me is the second book in the Home series. The first, Home Again, I pretty much hated entirely (1 star), but thankfully you don’t have to read Home Again to understand He Completes Me. In fact just pick up this one if it sounds interesting to you. HCM is a better book by far but it still suffers from second half malaise as the tension drains from the book to be replaced by sex scene after sex scene with no real purpose. It’s romantic to be sure and a very strong HEA with some adorable characters so that may be enough for some readers.

Review: The Tourist

The TouristThe Tourist by Clare London
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Tourist is a unique premise and an interesting idea. A long dead entity can “hop” into a person’s body and heighten their sexual desires and appetites. The ghost gets the feeling of pleasure and the host body gets some uninhibited sex. Unfortunately the inherent disconnect with the concept means that you’re never sure whose emotions and thoughts are being displayed. Are they the ghost or the host’s? Additionally there are too many complications that just aren’t fleshed out very clearly to make this a wholly successful story. It is however unique and different and worth reading for that. Review: No Apologies

No ApologiesNo Apologies by Tibby Armstrong
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

There’s something about No Apologies and the honest confusion of the protagonists that I just want to like. The sex scenes are beyond hot and the characters are well rounded, even if lopsided and not always sympathetic. Unfortunately the choppy and disjointed vehicle of the present movie detailing their past life (kind of) in flashbacks makes that hard. The benefits outweigh the negatives thankfully but I wish the story had made some different choices.

Review: Learning to Dharn

Learning to DharnLearning to Dharn by Ann Somerville
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Learning to Dharn is an interesting alternate universe/historical fantasy story that includes the rarely seen hero with a disability. In fact the disability and how it affects both men’s lives is perhaps the best part of the book. The setting is well crafted and the story well written but I never quite warmed up to Kelten and the story relies on a lot of manipulation, which may or may not work well for some readers. It’s definitely a different story and stands out for the unique elements which makes it an easy one to recommend even if it’s not a story I’d personally read again.

Review: The Lord Won’t Mind

The Lord Won't Mind (Peter & Charlie Trilogy)The Lord Won’t Mind by Gordon Merrick
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Lord Won’t Mind is the first book in a trilogy about Charlie and Peter. The story is meant as a juicy gay romance for “housewives.” I suppose in many ways it succeeds since the story is first and foremost extremely entertaining. There is lots of sex, instant love, a ton of drama and tears, and very stereotypical situations and attitudes befitting the time. The story offers a very superficial romance without the complexity and depth of its contemporaries. I wouldn’t necessarily call this gay literature, it’s a little too light and breezy, but depending on your expectations this classic may satisfy.

Review: The Untold Want

The Untold WantThe Untold Want by Catt Ford
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Untold Want is a nice, well written romance filled with interesting characters and some very nice diversity. Catt Ford always delivers satisfying stories and Untold Want is more of the same with some nice texture and situations, yet remaining a light easy read. Some of the conflict and tension is too easily resolved which negates the intended impact but overall this is an easy story to recommend for those looking for a classic plot with engaging characters. Review: Breaking Logan’s Laws

Breaking Logan's Laws (Quinn Security, #4)Breaking Logan’s Laws by Cameron Dane
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Breaking Logan’s Laws is a pretty typical Dane book. Fans of the author should enjoy the story and over the top romance while the somewhat corny style of writing isn’t likely to bother familiar readers. The mystery is eclipsed by the exaggerated relationship which is unfortunate since it has all the elements of being engaging and intriguing. However, the men are cute and sweet together which makes the story fun to read. This is an easy, enjoyable story to read even if it runs a little long with too many repetitive sex scenes and not enough interest in the mystery portion. Continue reading

Review: Trifecta

TrifectaTrifecta by Kate Sherwood
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Trifecta is a nice, sexy ménage that has some incredibly hot sex scenes and a pseudo believable relationship resolution. I didn’t really buy into it, nowhere near as much as the Dark Horse series by the same author. However those that like m/m/m romances should appreciate this offering, especially since there is an abundance of sex to help smooth over the rough parts. Those that are iffy on ménage may not appreciate this one since the main couple essential cheat on each other with the same young man before deciding to stay together and make a threesome.

Review: Our December

Our December (The Making of a Man, #1)Our December by Diane Adams
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the second book I’ve read by Diane Adams and her writing style satisfies that itch for light and romantic stories with solid happy endings. Some of the writing is jumbled and the POV jumps around a bit but the backbone of the story and characters are enough for anyone looking for an easy popcorn read. These may not be the most memorable stories but a quick, interesting read is enough sometimes and I’m curious to see where the author goes with this series.
