Anne Brooke always impresses me. I quite literally love her writing. There’s a sophistication and refinement to the clean, sparse prose that sets her apart. In fact I enjoyed reading the writing more so than the story itself, which wasn’t slacking. The theme of pain is one that Brooke has dabbled in before and intense concepts are truly her forte. Love, longing, need, desire, and characters that are anything but easy combine to offer a deeply moving yet still light story. I didn’t walk away depressed or depleted from an angst ridden story. Instead the quick story manages to be hopeful and inject laughter amid the intensity. Continue reading →

The Delaney’s series is a very entertaining excuse for some hot ménage sex. The various installments don’t really add much to the characterization or overall plot but the setups manage to make for some fun and hot sex scenes. The third installment is set up at Liam’s place of business and involves an art scam. This of course is just a way for Liam to have some hot and dirty sex with the mob twins but who’s complaining. Entertaining the Delaneys is the sequel to The Delaney’s and Me. Like the first short story, this one is a sex scene that seeks to delve slightly deeper into the characters and their complicated relationship. More kinks come to the surface and more depth to the various men in what promises to be a series of short stories. I’m not sure I like or even appreciate the characters in such short, stunted vinaigrettes versus a longer, more fleshed out story but the individual scenes are smoking hot and easy to read so fans won’t be disappointed.

After finishing A Dangerous Man I’m incredibly impressed with Brooke’s ability to evoke emotion, tension, angst, and mystery. This novel is a compelling story that left me breathless, heart broken, and depressed. I’m glad I could experience the author’s incredible talent yet I wish I’d never read this either. I can easily recommend the story but with the caveat that it’s not easy and definitely no happy ending, yet the brilliance of the writing is something to experience.[…]
