New Rainbow Reviews

New Rainbow Reviews!

Unfortunately nothing great but a few decent ones such as the memoir from Lethe Press and the Pepper Espinoza paranormal.

New Rainbow Reviews

It’s that time again – new Rainbow Reviews. In keeping with the “Mask” theme I started last week with Masks 1 and Masks 2, Masks 3 is up over on RR. I originally had to read 1 & 2 just to review 3 so you all get to read the same basic review (sorry!). But it’s still a fabulous series. If only I can do inclusive reviews of a whole series. There are a couple of shorts plus a solid vampire story by the great AM Riley plus the utterly hysterical SubSurdity. Eric Arvin could be my new comic god. Just saying…

Check them out!

New Rainbow Reviews

Hi all! Sorry about the no posts – been away and am back, exhausted but good. I love gamer weekend. Nothing like 20,000 geeks that adore and worship video games as if they were the secret to life. The more hardcore the better – plus where else can a gamer VP talk like a bad ass rocker but yet is still so very painfully a gamer geek. Sorry guy – all the bling and talk in the world won’t change he’s still the biggest geek I’ve ever encountered.  Probably more so since he tries to be a rocker.

Anyway! But enough about that onto the reviews. I read a ton over the weekend, traveling always does that. I read the young adult Mask triology (yes all 3) in a row, as well as a bunch of other books. Some will get reviews when I can remember what they were about and others don’t fall into the genre reviewed here. (Good Omens – hilarious).

Due to my being away I didn’t get many reviews out for RR, here are the lone two:

Beautiful Boys by Anne Cain

Ganymede Poets, One by John Stahle (editor)

More to come! I’m backed up on reviews as is, now with all these new ones. I promise I’ll get to them all eventually.

New Rainbow Reviews

Another week, another RR round up! I had a pretty good week with books last week and had two, TWO M. Jules Aedin. Poor author got both new books reviewed by me so be sure to go out and buy the books. They’re both really good.  Also might consider checking out the mystery by Abigail Roux. One of the best twists I’ve read in a mystery. And of course the bittersweet short by JM Snyder about “cutting.”  It was a good week!

Afflicted by J.M. Snyder

Every Good Thing by M. Jules Aedin

My Brother’s Keeper by Abigail Roux

Pirates Do It With Passion by Mimi Riser

The Palace of Varieties by James Lear

In other news, there is still time to enter the contest for a free copy NL Gassert’s book “The Protector.” The details are in the post below and you can either post or tweet to get entered. I’ve had a really strong response, more than I expected, so thank you to everyone so far! A winner will randomly be drawn tonight.

I also caved and joined Good Reads like a good lemming. Over on Kris ‘n Good Books there is extensive discussion on ratings (which I’ve likely done wrong) and friend etiquette (also likely to offend). If you’re new to good reads or thinking about, the unofficial guide seems to be there.

New Rainbow Reviews

Another week, more Rainbow Reviews. Nothing exciting unfortunately but there should be some fun reviews next week (I hope).  I’ve been slow on updating the LJ too with reviews due to being busy with some friends. Didn’t even read all weekend!

Not sure about anyone else but it was 97 degrees here this weekend. Hot enough? I had some out of town guests who wanted to go and do things, boldly stating “I don’t wilt.” HA! Everyone wilts in 97 degrees and I have a sparkly new sunburn to show for it.  Today should be 99. What do you do in weather that hot?

Anyway, the reviews!

New Rainbow Reviews

Another Monday, more rainbow reviews. I think most everything scored well, except the all porn sip but I’d read those stories in their original anthology. Anyone else notice Torquere putting out a ton of stories that recently appeared elsewhere? Mostly re-publishing anthology stories. Not to mention recent mistakes. I accepted a sip for review because there was no mention of a chick in it only to find one later on. Should sort of state that clearly up front, so be careful readers of what you’re buying over there. Let’s hope it’s a just a phase, otherwise sloppy handling is never good.

Anyway, onto the reviews! Good week and I was lucky to review Icarus, the sci-fi magazine. The fabulous Val of Obsidian Bookshelf has a great review in the issue so be sure to check it out.
